Heavy rock duo Mod Morass has emerged as “a force to be reckoned with” through their usage of odd time signatures, aggressive timbre, abstract vocals and tribal imagery to apprise current environmental and political flaws. Further, emphasizing on their capabilities to extend their musical roles of drums, bass, vocals and violin to virtuoso, while combining their Swedish (Ollie Ivarsson) and Colombian (Iván Orlín Ariza) folk traditions to the scene.
Despite being only two, they manage to deliver a field of layered riff-oriented music of whipping guitars and deep bass, both live and in the studio, which listeners have described as both powerful and engaging. Moreover, portraying themselves as such, Mod Morass is an attempt to silence the world and speak out against it in protest. Additionally, the band draws influences from the rock and metal scene of TOOL, Audioslave and Deftones; yet, keeping a musical association with iconic duos such as Royal Blood and Twenty One Pilots.
